Illinois Suburb Rocked by Shooting

March 2nd, is a day many Darien, IL residents will remember for a long time to come. Residents awoke to news of a fatal shooting that occurred as a result of a home invasion. This community is located about 20 miles south of Chicago and remains mostly quiet with only the occasional arrests for drunk driving or petty theft.

At around 3am Tuesday morning, police received a 911 call from inside the Kramer home on Kilkenny Drive in Darien. The 911 caller was identified as Angela Kramer, the daughter of the slain couple and the sister of their slain son. Angela was found by authorities in the closet and is not considered to be a suspect. As the tragedy hit the news early morning Tuesday, the victims names were not readily available and the residents of Darien wondered if they had a serial killer on their hands.

As the day and investigation had progressed, the names of the victims were released. Jeffery Kramer and his wife Laurie were among the victims, as well as their 20 year old son, Michael. Also in the house at the time of the shooting was Angela Kramer, Anthony Kramer, and Michael Kramer's girlfriend. The DuPage County Sheriff and Darien police department worked hard to get this resolved. Shortly after identifying the victims, they began receiving information on possible leads.

Jacob Nodarse was a person of interest in this shooting. He was captured in Florida on March 3rd, picked up on an unrelated obstruction of justice charge. He was picked up in front of his parents Florida home while sleeping in his van. Nodarse was identified as a person of interest because neighbors recalled seeing a BMW parked outside the Kramer home Monday night, into Tuesday morning. In a Florida bond court, Nodarse waived his right to fight extradition back to Illinois. Nordarse is expected back in Illinois sometime between Friday and Saturday.

This community is forever changed by the lives taken on March 2nd. Although, the motive of the shootings is not clear, the residents of Darien can rest better knowing the suspect has been caught. This is the first death Darien has seen in ten years.
