Illumination

Greg Rodenius
Daybreak casts accusing light
at shadowed subjects,
who scurry back to their holes in the ground.
Silence now the only sound;
the grief of hollow words no longer found.

Quiet murmurs of un-thought thoughts
struggle to illuminate.
A quickened pulse to the beat of drums
pounded down to the paltry crumbs;
acceptance as the shadowed world becomes.
