I'm Drunk and She's Driving Me Out of My Mind

A Little Country Western Song I Wrote

Chris Berry
The bartender's trying to tell me
That he thinks that I ought to go
But I can't figure out the reason why
'Cause Hell I'm on a roll.

When I started out this evening I was missing you
And all of that crap
But now my dear I mostly miss the beer
That I spilled in my lap.

Go ahead and call me a cab bartender
You know I do believe it's time
Because I'm drunk and she's driving
Me out of my mind.

When we get to my house cab driver
Just cruise by the front real slow
If you don't see any lights or signs of life
You can just pour me under the door.

But if you hear something that sounds suspiciously like
The thwap of a rolling pin
Please stick around for just a little while
Because I'll be coming back out again.

Don't you take me to no doctor
Just take me to the nearest dive
Because I'm drunk and she's driving me
Out of my mind.

Chorus:
I'm drunk and she's driving
Me out of my mind
Why my dear do you make me cry in my beer
This ain't no kind of life
You know I truly love you at least some of the time
But I'm drunk and you're driving
me out of my mind.

  • Funny thing is I don't drink much.
  • I like to take actual happenings, events, etc and turn them into funny stories, songs, poems etc.
  • I've got hundreds of these song lyric stories.
A drunk told me this story almost verbatim. I couldn't resist taking his story and turning it into a song. I came up with the line "I'm drunk and you're driving me out of my mind".

Here's a line from one of my song that you can use if you like.
I never put you on no pedistal girl, I just found you on a bar stool"

Best line: "You know I truly love you at least some of the time."

Heather, I've got another one called 18 Wheels of Fire that's about semi trucks, pick-up trucks, my dog and "the little girl that stole my heart". One of these days when I get time I'll put it on.

This has got everything the C&W audience is looking for except for butterflies or children. Could go high on the charts.
