I'm a Godless Liberal

Rainlillie
I'm a godless Liberal, because I don't worship the same God that:

* Ann Coulter
* Sean Hannity
* Rush Limbaugh
* George W. Bush
* Bill O'Reilly
* Glen Beck

* Dick Cheney
* Donald Rumsfeild
* Condi Rice
* Laura Bush
* James Dobson

And every other faux Christian in this country worships. The God that I believe in teaches me to take care of the poor, reach out to the oppressed and to never lie, cheat, steal or use his name in a divisive way. Bush and the rest of the faux Christians in this country have used fear, bigotry and hate in order to gain power. The faux Christians use Christianity the same way that Bin Laden uses Islam.

People ask why the "good Muslims" won't speak out against nuts like Bin Laden. I ask why won't "good Christians speak out against nuts like Pat Roberson, James Dobson, , Ann Coulter and all of the other people within the GOP who have distorted the teachings of Christ.

    I love your characterization of those folks as "faux" Christians. You couldn't be anymore right. These are people that would call Jesus a no good liberal hippy if they actually listened to his words.

    Chadd, where did Jesus command that we have to "destroy them all"? Jesus said the two greatest commandments were love. Love God and love thy neighbor. He never said "kill thy neigbhor" or start a "war on terror". He said if someone slaps you on one cheek to offer your other cheek to be slapped as well. He also said if someone robbed your coat to give them your garment as well. I am all for a war on the terrorist group the KKK.

    When did I say the Ba'ath Party set up an Islamic State of Iraq?

  • Rainlillie8/27/2007

    The Baath Party wanted a secular state, Iraq didn't become an Islamic State , until we removed Saddam. Now Iran has influence throughout Iraq. Thanks to Bush's invasion and occupation of a country who posed no eminent thereat to the security of our country.

    Alyce, you have no clue what you're talking about. Why not just say "I hate the following people: A, B, C" and be done with it? Why would you try to invoke things you don't understand, such as "The Identity Movement" which isn't Christian, nor is it accepted as such by Christians at large. Your "If they weren't accepted they wouldn't exist" logic is about as sound in thought as "if cancer really were fatal it wouldn't exist". Things of limited popularity can and do exist, self sustained. By your own logic, the ACLU is clearly a right wing outfit as it is the group who defended the KKK in front of the supreme court.

    They ARE a fringe group that exists in isolated circles that have absolutely no say or sway. Ever lived in the South? Ever seen the abhorrence with which they treat the KKK? I doubt you have. Yes, I absolutely do believe that you get your information from communities of people - not from T.V., I think you browse the internet and you find things that fit with your idea of how the world works, and you have nothing else to reference it to but these communal Truth Movers and paranoia addicts. Yes, I don't think the KKK are very Christian - and you know what? The entire Christian community agrees with me.

  • Chadd De Las Casas8/25/2007

    And finally, Alyce once more. I do believe they have a civil right to burn crosses - as long as its THEIR property they're doing it with and no one else's. I believe they have a civil right to hate whomever they want. They have a civil right to wish this were an entirely white country. Just like I believe CAIR has a civil right to want women to wear Burqas and protest the St. Petersburg Conference to bridge the gap between the West and Islam that would involve equality between men and women. They have the right to do or say whatever they want as long as it doesn't infringe upon someone else's rights, property, or lives. No, that's a can of bologna that without mainstream Christian support the KKK wouldn't survive - all they need is a general hatred of Jews, Blacks, Catholics, and other groups that don't fit in with them.

  • Chadd De Las Casas8/25/2007

    Alyce, firstly, you're pretending as though that were the only piece of evidence linking the people to the bombings - and of course, I've seen you bring that debate up on about 9 other articles (I'm exaggerating, it's really about 2), and in both of them you were pretty solidly refuted, so I don't think I need to go into all the possibilities again. Take any other time someone has shown the depths of that absurdity to heart. Before I cover her (or his, I don't know what Alyce is) next point, I'll get back to Rain. Rain, it doesn't matter what you think of their "Distortions" or lackthereof or any variants of such, of Christianity. Until they ram planes into buildings your analogy is just plain bad. You can't get around that, when you want to put someone on the same level as them, you have to take into consideration ALL things when you make an analogy, you don't just cut and snip.

  • Alyce Rocco8/25/2007

    If it were true that the KKK was not accepted by mainstream Christians they would have disappeared a long time ago. Supreme Court Justices would not rule in their favor to overthrow 50 year old cross burning bans and public schools would not allow "Whites Only" trees and threats of lynching. True Christians would obey the Commandments, one of which is "Thou Shalt Not Kill" and being that the majority of US citizens are Christians, that would mean there would be no one willing to join the military. I believe that what was what was pointed out by the article. "Body counts are irrelevant" is not a very Christian statement made by one of those listed.

    Chadd, I explained what not watching television meant because you often accuse me of being involved with other people. It is as if you think people can not come to their own conclussions about anything. It means I am less swayed by propaganda than people who take what they see on the television as gospel truth. Nobody can convince me of something that common sense tells me is impossible. A "slightly charred passport" magically appears and proves guilt? How can a passport survive fire that burns so hot it melts steel?
