I'm with President Bush on This One; Nancy Pelosi is Dangerous and Irresponsible This Week
Almost a Century Later, the Armenian Genocide Trumps Priorities, African/Darfur Genocide and Our Friends like Turkey
I am with the PREZ. on this one: Pelosi is a danger, even to Kurds & Armenians
PELOSI ABUSES HER POWER WITH THE CONGRESSIONAL AGENDA
Did you know that Nancy Pelosi hails from a congressional district that has a significant concentration of ethnic Armenians (Americans of Armenian origin)?
She abused her rise to power as a woman, and seems to make a huge tragedy of a century ago (World War I) a proiority today. This week she threatens to condemn Turkey/Ottoman Empire for the genocide of Armenians. Why is this an and agenda item as important as the Jewish holocaust and the current wars in Asia and the Middle East to Pelosi? In this analysis, Pelosi joins people like Indira Gandhi, Golda Meir and Ellen Sirleaf Johnson ---but gives women leaders a bad name too. She ignores the genocide in Sudan (Darfur) and the plight of women and children in the current war zones for a lower priority in 2007-08. Perhaps she will be defeated in her relection campaign by Gold Star mom Cindy Sheehan, who will also redeem liberals. women and democrats of all stripes.
Although Nancy Pelosi is a Representative in Congress (DEMOCRAT), she has more responsibility for the entire nation as MAJORITY LEADER in Congress: she is the proverbial representative of all Americans. All Americans do not want us to ignore Sudan/Darfur, DRC/ZAIRE, and Somalia at this moment for a resolution condeming the Ottoman Empire which is a relic of history. The current diminished state called Turkey is a democratic, modern state with a Muslim majority that is open and friendly with the West (and may be the first non-Choistian member of the EU or European Union in the future).
Ignoring the sufferings of millions of Africans RIGHT NOW and pushing the Administration against an ally we need in the successful fight we have on our hands in IRAQ, Pelosi is driving the agenda of Congress in a dangerous and almost sad direction. Just after her colleague Joe Biden (D-Delaware) suggests one EXIT STRATEGY in Iraq is to create a federation of three states, we see the dangers of that exit strategy if Turkey and other friends in the Middle East will be needled and driven away from this Administration by a resolution calling the events of 1915 genocide, as by the aggresion of the Kurds of Northern Iraq.
Perhaps there was an Armenian genocide; but did anyone condemn Hitler's destruction of Gypsies and other minorities in a Congressional Resolution since we won World War II? That event is more recent than what Pelosi is fiddling with this week!
Pelosi is being too cynical for any citizen's liking: it is better to save the humans we can, and the planet from pollution and species extinction NOW, rather than cause problems with our vitalallies talking about a resolution in Congress this week for condemnation of an historic injustice of 1915. I wish the Armenians well... but their fate has yet to be made equivalent or approaching the seriousness of the Jewish holocaust. Let us not re-elect a feeble-minded leader of the Democrats who is making a moral equivalent between anti-Semitism and GENOCIDE (a powerful, useful concept) with anti-Armenian politics of World War I.

Post a CommentI think that you have missed the overall point. Although Pelosi does have a significant number of Armenian's in her district, they were a mere pawn in an underhanded political strategy. Pelosi is very aware of the reaction by Turkey to the genocide claims made throughout the years. Pelosi sought to exploit this in and effort to anger our allies, and potentially lead Turkey to withdraw support of the US in the war on terror. It's pretty simple, without Turkey's support on Iraq, Iran, and Afghanistan, we stand no chance. Pelosi is dangerous! If her goal was to cause a conflict with Turkey, she cannot be trusted. If it was not her goal to anger Turkey, she should be removed for overall stupidity. Either way, she's a liability.
