I'm Proud My Children Receive a Great Education

Growing up in a small rural area, I attended the local Elementary school from grade 1 to grade 6. At that time, which was 36 years ago, the standard of education was high and I had excellent teachers! I am proud to say that I have one child who went through the same school and another one who is now in the 4th grade there. The standard of excellence in education has not changed and the level of dedication from the teachers is still as strong today.

A lot of people look down on our small town school and think that the rural schools do not hold to high educational standards. Rural does not mean out of touch as it did in the olden days, in this case, it means this area is not over populated and business are not abundant close by. It is a misconception that this area has a poor educational system based on the economic situation of the residents in the community. In recent testing of students in the 3rd and 4th grade of the schools in this county, Shelby Elementary had the highest scores for math and reading! I think this alone stands as proof of the excellence of our teachers' ability to educate our children. I am proud of our school and the teachers who are so dedicated!
