I'm Still the Man

He said, "I am in love with you."

She responded, "Words are just words if I can't see or feel that what you say is true."

He responded, "I am trying my best to show you my affection the best way I know how to."

She responded, "I appreciate your effort but I sense that you are holding a part of you back. One day you act like you care but the next I don't know what to expect."

He responded, "I am only partially to blame when you don't respond to my subtle clues. I shouldn't have to always say what my actions prove."

She responded, "Don't you understand this is not a game and I have no desire to be the one who loses."

He responded, "Baby girl by the same token this is not a situation where only what you say are the golden rules."

She responded, "Don't speak to me with disregard and act is if I am the only one trying to take control. I can do bad by myself and I have nothing to prove."

He responded, "I don't respond well to ultimatums so I have no further comment or desire to challenge you."

She responded, "I won't beg you to stay if you prefer to leave."

He responded, "Be careful that you don't say what you really don't mean."

She responded, "I mean I can't make you love me."

He responded, "I told you that I did but you don't seem to be listening."

She responded, "You are starting to frustrate me and your tone is a bit condescending."

He responded, "I apologize but I am trying to understand which role you expect me to be playing?"

She responded, "What do you mean?"

He responded, "You are a woman and I respect you for all that you are."

She responded, "Yes. So what's your point?"

He responded, "If you want me to be forthcoming and honest with you then you must wholeheartedly understand that although I am willing to compromise I'm still the man."

Hi Kathera. You posed an important question,"What does it mean to be the Man?" It's kind of difficult to answer to different men it may vary. What I hear from a lot of guys is that they dislike their manhood to be questioned by the women they are dating. They also mention some women trying to dictate to them what a real man is. Thanks for all of your comments.

absolutely fascinating. I just wish I knew what he meant by his last line! What does it mean to still be the man? I know he means you ahve to accept me as what I am and I am a man. But what is it to be the man?
