Some businesses are like that. They use celebrities and smoke and mirrors to make you pay a higher price than you might otherwise. Take Geico, they use a big gecko to make you want to do business with them. And they don't even give the best rate or have very good policies for when you actually get into an accident.
I was very dissatisfied with my experience with Geico, yet many people go with them because of cute commercials. Other image businesses include fashion and music. You have to be considered cool to be in these fields. And cool usually means being loose in your moral code.
They wanted me to be a model, but when I got harassed by a wanna be gangster and my neighbor I became distraught and put the weight back on. Now days, I still seem to get harassed, even though I weigh a lot more. So I am trying to lose weight again.
I guess it would be nice being able to make a good living at something I loved. Even if it was an image business. But I'm a burnt out smart person tired of men coming on to me. It gets so lonely sometimes. I'm rather happy being a day care worker which isn't exactly glamorous, but I haven't had too much trouble with men at Rainbow Day Child Care, even though I've kept off 55 lbs.
I know some people do whatever it takes to be famous and then drink and do drugs to forget the pain. But I think it is sad that so many people degrade themselves to be worth something in other's eyes. I know of one person who had a wakeup call after being a night club promoter and getting high and selling booze. He started taking photos on Mercy Ship a nonprofit that served the poor in Africa. Then he started Charity. A non profit designed to sell water bottles at $20 each to help build wells in Africa and other places around the world.
So while some people use image to better themselves, its nice to know some people have seen the light and want to give back. I hope you decide to give to Charity and help solve the water crisis in Africa. 1.1 Billion people don't get clean drinking water.
