Imaginary Friend, Where Did You Go?

*e!
With a flock of Mexican parrots, funny head
You floated hazily through my window

Not that you weren't invited
But how easy you were to sink teeth into.

You never cared that I didn't live in a house of flowers
Or that my only words to you brought blood and fire,
stacked like stones ready to fall, fall, fall.

Conversations of conspiracy and UFO sightings
told in between frenzies of sticky teeth kisses
were a sweet distraction.

You understood my texture, my flavor, and my always clenched fist.
You were always with me

Days burn by....
under the cold, cold sun,
under the blue, blue night

Leaving me hung over and over from the stories you would bring,
wrapped like deli meat under your belt,
salty and ready to eat.

Silly meat stories that I would pretend to swallow up whole.
But then flush down the toilet the second you left.

Under quilt forts we would whisper and laugh
Machine gun, crazy-people laughs
At drunk moms and other criminal processes.

Time and shadows smash the moment
Leaving the dust of well-wished passages and things too secret to say.

Internal, eternal.
Water to wine to bitten lips.

Ghost to ghost, I know you are with me.
