Imagined Converstaions Part 2
A Conversation I Imagine Two Burglars Would Have as They Walk by My House
#1 Do you like to be called a burglar or a crook?
#2 I prefer crook because it makes sense. I am crooked. The word burglar just makes me think of the guy who stole hamburgers on the old McDonalds commercials. Stupid.
#1 I'd be a cat burglar.
#2 Yea, that would be cool.
#1 Hey, look at this house.
#2 Nice. The window frames are shabby, but it still looks elegant somehow.
#1 Agreed. And even though the roof is in bad shape and the lawn is dying it seems like the house of someone I could respect.
#2 It looks like the house of the kind of man who, although of modest means, still enjoys a few quality possessions.
#1 I would guess that he has a nice collection of half-dollars from the years 1966 through 1970 when they were 40% silver.
#2 Yes, shall we rob this house then?
#1 Yes, let's rob it right now.
#2 Wait. There is a light on in the living room.
#1 Even though it is quiet and there are no cars out front, that light might mean that someone is home.
#2 We can not take a chance.
#1 Let's rob the neighbor's house.
#2 Yes.
