Imaginosity is One of the Great Things to Do with Children in Dublin

Imaginosity Dublin is a Great Place to Take Kids

If you have kids then Imaginosity is a great place to take them for a few hours entertainment. I brought my son there during or last trip to Ireland and he had a ball. We plan on returning again next month during our next trip to Dublin.

What is Imaginosity Dublin?

Imaginosity Sandyford is a children's museum and one of the best things to do with children in Dublin. The word museum can bring and image of stuffiness to many people's minds, but Imaginosity is nothing like that. It is a fully interactive experience with enough games and activities to entertain children of all age groups.

My Experience with Imaginosity Dublin

Imaginosity is situated in Sandyford Industrial Estate. It is easy to get to if you are on the LUAS line, but it is still a bit of a walk from the station. The area of Dublin where we stay during our visits is not on the LUAS line so we needed to take the bus and had about a fifteen minute walk after this. The Children's museum is in a new area of Sandyford that has a few shops and departments stores. Imaginosity looks quite exciting from the outside and this piqued my son's interest.

The price of entry to is currently €8.50 for adults, €6.50 for toddlers, and €2 for infants under 12 months. I was actually a bit disappointed to see that they charged so much for adults considering the venue is aimed at kids. Still, I suppose as things to do with children in Dublin go, it is quite cheap.

Once we got past the ticket box my then two year old son became very excited, it was obvious to him that we had arrived somewhere that he was going to like. We climbed a stairs and were soon in an area with enough activities and toys to blow any child's mind. We first checked out the child size supermarket; which looked exactly like the real thing except that it was made for children's play and everything can be touched. My son had great fun filling his small shopping trolley with all the things in on the shelves; it is like Supermarket Sweep for little people. Next to the supermarket is a kitchen area with everything you would expect to find in a real kitchen.

Imaginosity Dublin is divided into different zones. The supermarket is part of the town centre. There is also the construction company zone where kids can build things and knock them down again. There is a garage area where there are cars to play with; including one with a large screen so that you can see where you were driving. Tir na Nog is an area devoted especially to very young children but my son liked it as well. The zones are spread over two levels and there is also a roof area that is open in good weather; we managed to see this and my son enjoyed the different things up there to play with. Imaginosity also has an art area and little stage where the tiny stars can show their talent. The climber goes all the way up through two floors and is aimed at the older kids.

There is an eating area where we managed to take my son before he could get too excited. There was only a small selection of items on sale, but enough to satisfy most kids. It is a welcome place for adults to catch their breaths.

I would say that Imaginosity is a great place to bring kids. We went on a weekday and it wasn't too busy, but apparently things can get pretty hectic at weekends. It is advised that anybody planning to go books in advance. If you are looking for things to do in Dublin with children then this is well worth considering.

Thanks Nancy, it can be hard to find entertaining things to do with kids.

I remember going to such places when my daughters were young. We were regulars at a children's museum called Visionarium in Sacramento that has mysteriously vanished, and once we went to a children's museum in New Jersey where the girls could pretend to be newscasters. Love the name Imaginosity... and your little boy is adorable : )
