I recently visited the Imane Moroccan Restaurant in Duluth, Georgia for a birthday lunch celebration. Initially I thought about trying their buffet which is available Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., however I decided to check out the individual menu items. Once I looked at the menu it was hard to settle on what to try. Their appetizers include Briwate which is their version of an eggroll. However, Briwate is made with Authentic Moroccan pastry with Chicken, Kefta or Seafood. Another appetizer that caught my eye was the Calamari which is fried with soudania pepper and sweet basil. I settled on the Briwate with the Seafood. It was fresh, hot and was full of flavor. The sauce that comes with it takes the taste to another level and makes your taste buds dance!

Next up, it was time to tackle the main event and choose an entree. This was not going to be easy as they offer wonderful entrees that include, Chicken B-Stilla which is braised chicken with onion, saffron, ras el hanout and almonds wrapped in warka. Then there are the Tagine choices that consisted of Chicken, Lamb, Samon or Mussels. I decided to go a little traditional and try the Lamb Tagine which is called Marakesh Tagine. This is Lamb Shank braised with artichokes and sweet peas in a tasty Moroccan sauce. The Lamb was tender and full of flavor from the sauce. The artichokes were perfectly cooked where the sauce only enhanced the flavor of the artichoke. The peas were able to stand out on their own with the slightest flavor of sweetness.

I ordered dessert, but before I indulged I decided to take a tour of Imane to get the feel for the atmosphere. I didn't notice it initially, but at the front door are wonderful Moroccan stools with beautiful vibrant colors which are very reminiscent of the Mediterranean. Once you come in the entrance of Imane, on the right is a private room that boost of wonderful colorful cushions that surround the entire room and allow your guest to dine as royalty. As you look around the room you'll discover wonderful Moroccan art-work on display in that area as well as a very large Hookah in the corner of the room. Their Hookah is a favoriate and comes in Double Apple, Strawberry, Mint, Grapes and Mixed Fruit flavors. When you leave the private room, you see a stage with karaoke equipment as well as a large flat-screen television which was airing various Moroccan music videos.

Imane's typically has live Moroccan Music and belly dancers performing, but only at dinner unless you request so for a party. The bathrooms were even traditionally dressed with Hookah replicas, Mediterranean rugs and beautifully crafted golden sinks. It was a sight to behold! I digress, it was finally time to dive into my dessert. I ordered the Sweet B-Stilla with Moroccan Pastry Cream. The pastry was light and served with rich pudding inside and topped with powdered sugar and wonderful decadent Moroccan Cream. It was absolutely worth every single calorie.

Imane Moroccan Restaurant is located at 3455 Peachtree Industrial Blvd, Suite 840, Duluth, Georgia 30096. You can visit them online at http://www.imanerestaurant.com/index.htm for menu, prices and telephone number. Imane is a great place for a wedding rehearsal, birthday or anniversary party. Bottom-line: Food: Authentic Moroccan-Mediterranean, Location - Excellent, close to shopping and Price-point - Above average - $8.00-$14.00 for lunch and $15.00 to $35.00 for dinner.
