Travelers from the North Descend Upon This Curious Rust-belt City

Sean P. Hulsman
Wanderers far from home
with loves and lives and long winter nights left behind
huddle like tribesman on a rippling plastic sheet.
Mothers tending to young,
teaching and training and leading,
bark orders at their charges,
and flee reluctantly from passers-by.
Perhaps in their minds the myriad plans
of the imminent autumn retreat.
Perhaps just the joy of sunshine on feathers
