Immigration: Pay Your Taxes

What Are We Going to Do About Immigration?

Immigration, I think, is an interesting subject. I can understand why someone would want to come to America. It is a great land of freedom, opportunity, and creating wealth, but one must abide by the rules to be able to be part of such a great country.

A couple of years ago I had the great opportunity to visit the very beautiful country of South Africa. This country is an amazing site, with the beach to your left and the mountains to your right. I was there on a mission trip to help the poor and needy of that country. Next year the team that I was with was hoping to get some of the teens that we give mission to the opportunity to come to this great country and help out because poverty is everywhere. At this time, also, Katrina had devastated New Orleans and being from Lafayette, the beautiful city of New Orleans is pretty much my backyard. As we were trying to get the kids down here, I experienced something that seemed quite foreign to me. This foreign experience was the fact that it is virtually impossible for anyone in any other country, especially in a third world country, to leave their own country. So needless to say they could not come and help out our brothers in need.

I believe that if someone wants to enter into this great nation of America, they must go through the proper guidelines and do it legally. Every American must pay taxes. That is what keeps this great country running. This is what puts police on our streets, creates great healthcare, puts heroes in the line of fire, and protects us in many other ways that keep the economy running. This also goes to everyone who is HOPING to become an American also. If we let illegals into the country and not count them, then they are taking the equilibrium out of the country. There will be an over population with no money coming in because they are not paying to be in this great country.

After watching the 30 Days episode on Immigration, it was quite interesting to see the other side of the issue. I understand that there is a great living in the United States of America, but if you are still working for hardly anything, then what is the difference between America and where you came from. If immigrants wanted to really take advantage of the opportunities of this country, they need to remember that this country was found on business. They need to enter this country legally, have an idea of what they want to do here, create something that will benefit the country and do their duty by abiding by the tax codes that are in place.

I do find it interesting, that our country was based on immigration though. As early settlers, the Europeans immigrated onto the native Indians land, but because we were able to set up laws and codes to live by, we flourished as a country, and this needs to be upheld or else there could easily be an economic downturn, especially if we are loosing our jobs to China and India!

Those with false papers do pay taxes and Social Security, but they never file for refunds or benefits. That leaves the U.S. with a positive cash flow from illegal immigrants, not a negative cash flow - and not a one of them is laughing all the way to the bank.
