Take a moment and think back to some of the coolest science fiction movies to ever come out. We thought it was cool when the actors had the ability to talk to holographic images or use large touchscreens as seen in Minority Report. Mielke decided that he wanted to create a tattoo that was actually implantable into the human body. What we end up with is this very thin electronic screen that has touch interface capabilities and the ability to change it's image when programmed.
The process for making it happen sounds sort of painful at first. What you would have to have done is the electronic screen would need to be implanted under your skin. Once it is implanted it will show your tattoo through the skin. This is possible through the use of not ink and tiny microscopic spheres. These spheres are capable of being colored from black to clear. In order to operate it must be powered by a battery. A unique buttons sized blood fuel cell is used that is capable of converting the oxygen and glucose in your body into electricity. In turn the electricity powers your implant.
Now what makes this even cooler is that it has built in Bluetooth technology. What this means is that the impant can communicate with any Bluetooth device. Basically, it is because of this link that you can control the implant as well. This means that you can change the display whenever you want and showcase whatever image you wish. You could even program pictures to pop up on your arm of the person who happens top be calling you at that exact moment.
The hope with this technology is that you give people and alternative to permanent tattoos. As technology evolves people continue to look for ways to make more things possible. This makes it possible for the user to get a tattoo without regretting it a few days later. However, there is the fact you have this device implanted in your arm. This can be expensive and you might get rid of it sometime. Or you might learn to live with it because you can turn the device off and make it appear as if it was never there in the first place.
This is the future of tattoos. Until someone is able to create a way to delete permanent tattoos without some pain this is a great solution. Some people might argue that Eight Ball is a great removal system but it has been shown to be painful to some and tedious to others. This is another solution that could revolutionize the tattoo industry and perhaps kill it at the same time. The future is bright with implantable technologies.

Post a CommentMisty! I never thought of someone implanting several of these devices into your body. That could be a real problem and I hope they do not allow this. Wow, good comment.
I think that this would be a neat idea for someone who only wants one or two tattoos. The fact that you can turn it off would be useful at a job where tattoos are not allowed to be showing. However, the idea of someone having a lot of them implanted the way some people have tattoos all over their body kind of gives me the creeps for some reason.
