Over the past few years, several community projects have been implemented. Some have been completed, and others are ongoing as funds become available. These projects cover a wide range of things, including street and road improvements, traffic and directional signage updating and neighborhood studies.
The neighborhood studies were conducted or are being conducted to learn about the different neighborhoods in the Birmingham area, including how they came to be established, how the development of these neighborhoods occurred and the unique architectural designs that each neighborhood displays.
The city understands that each neighborhood's history is important. These studies will allow planners and residents to work together to preserve that.
