There is never a sure thing in life and certainly not where vaccines are concerned. There are possible side affects with every vaccine given. It doesn't outweigh the risks of not getting the vaccines though. Vaccines can and will save lives, millions of lives in fact. The statistics are high that the vaccine is far more beneficial than any risks that you are taking by getting them for your children. Most schools require the vaccinations in order for the children to go to public schools so that an outbreak doesn't occur. If there is an outbreak of measles and parents are refusing to get their children the vaccine, our children start dying from it again. We can avoid these deaths by simply getting the shots necessary to keep the disease from occurring in children.
Getting measles vaccination is the only choice that makes good sense. It's never fun to have to take children for shots. It is also not fun to have to worry that your child could end up with side effects from it. It is a horrible feeling to think that your child could be at risk for autism if they get the vaccines. What is even worse is knowing that there was something that you could have done to prevent them from getting measles, not doing it and then losing them. That may sound like a horrible way to put it, but if you consider how you will feel if that does happen, the choice is clear.
It is extremely important that parents make sure their children get vaccinated from measles to prevent them from contracting the number one killer of children worldwide. This is an occasion where common sense needs to take precedence over fear of a non-lethal possibility. Get your children vaccinated against measles so that you never have to question yourself as to why you just didn't get the shot for them in the first place.
Schools don't place these restrictions on kids who aren't vaccinated just to be mean. It is a policy because epidemics of measles has killed thousands of people over the course of history. In 1963, a vaccine became available to help rid the world of the problem. There is no reason for anyone to die of measles in the world today. Unfortunately, it is beginning to happen again. Getting children vaccinated from the virus is key to keeping the disease from overtaking the country again. This isn't a new vaccine anymore. It was new when I was born as it was created in the same year, that was 47 years ago. The vaccine has saved thousands of lives and could save thousands more if we don't allow ourselves to have mass hysteria over the possibility that something less deadly could occur.
