Reasons stay at home moms need outside relationships:
Baby Burnout- It is very easy to get burnt out when the only thing you do is take care of the children all day long. You start to feel like that is the only thing you have in life and that surely there is something more you could be doing. That doesn't make you a bad mother, it makes you human. That is why it is important to have relationships outside of the home. You need to interact with others and do some things just for yourself. There is nothing wrong with wanting to take care of your family. You can do that better if you have a couple of outside interests though.
Happiness- When you do things for yourself, you are a happier person. It isn't selfish to have something of your own. It is common sense that you would need to have things that you call your own in order to be completely happy. Taking care of your family is a wonderful job, but taking care of yourself has to be a part of that. When you have relationships outside of the home and do things outside of the home, you will be a much happier and more satisfied person. You will then be able to give even better care to your children and you husband.
Good Example- Having relationships outside of the home for work at home moms sets a good example for children to grow and for them to learn how to form relationships with people other than the people they already know simply through family and family friends. Children are watching their parents. If they see you making good relationships outside of the home, they will be more likely to be able to establish good relationships outside of their comfort zone as they grow up. It teaches them that they can be more outgoing.
Let's you Grow- When you are a stay at home mom that doesn't get out of the house and make new relationships, it doesn't give you as many opportunities to grow as a person. You start to feel like you are in the same place all the time. Finding relationships outside of the home helps you to grow in different directions. One day the children will grow up and you will be left with whatever you built up in the process of their growth. Learn to grow yourself by having a set of relationships outside of the home.
Stay at home mom's sometimes need a break from the day to day routine. Having friends outside of the home will allow for that because it is likely you will be invited to do things that you wouldn't otherwise know about. It's always nice to have friends around in case you need someone to talk to. Having other adults around is essential to your well being.
