Importance of Variation in Your Exercise Routine

Aaron Tadeo
No matter what you're doing, it usually gets pretty boring if you do it again and again and again. Let's say your job is like a routine. Write, type, then print then write type and then print again. And so on. Well, we could say the same thing about your exercise routine.

At first, it really is exciting when you engage in physical activity like following an exercise video or completing a set of exercises per day. But it could get really boring and you could lose your excitement and hopefully not lose your drive and motivation too. But then, it's already given that boredom could kick in at any time especially if you're doing the same exercises again and again. Why is it important that you vary your routine?

This information came from one of my cardiologists a few years back. I was really big and I did lose a lot of weight but I started to lose less and less per week. I did the same thing over and over again. My doctor then pointed out that, if you're muscles get used to doing the same thing again and again, you won't get tired easily thus, you won't burn as much calories and lose as much weight. I then varied my routine and it really worked. I lost more weight.

If you are on the go and your schedule changes, it could be problematic if you have to follow the same schedule of your exercise from day to day. You'd have to adjust your exercise routines like decreasing or increasing the time allotted for them. You may also need to alter the exercises to fit into your schedule like decrease repetitions or do it faster. Time management is a very big key.

Varying your exercise routines can be really interesting and really helpful. You can exercise your body in different ways thus you'll most likely become more flexible as your body is more adept to do different movements.

Now, what can you do then to vary your exercise routines? There are quite a lot actually. First, you can do a new workout altogether. You can rearrange the days of your schedule. You can even rearrange the sequence of your daily routines. You can increase repetitions when lifting weights and you can increase the weight itself. You can turn your exercise into high-impact routines by moving faster or incorporating extra movements.

You can also increase or decrease your resting period in-between routines. You can try out different machines instead of the ones you've been using. You could transfer to another location to perform your exercise. You can ask another friend to join you. And so on and so forth. You just have to be a little bit creative sometimes.

Of course, regardless of whether you vary your exercise routines or not, the results could be different for each of us. It really depends on our bodies since we differ in physical orientation. But in any case, it's mostly good to do something new and it could be really exciting. It's something that you could actually look forward to and it's fun. Always do your best.
