If you are a teenager that wants to start babysitting in order to earn a little bit of extra cash, there are certain things that you should learn before actually doing it. Being prepared for every situation will make you are much better babysitter and keep you from panicking if something should occur while you are watching someone else's little ones. Babysitters are left in charge of children and that is a huge responsibility. There are classes that are offered to teenagers who want to babysit and these classes can be used on other areas of your life as well. You can find the classes around the area that you live in most cases.

Classes that every babysitter should take:

CPR/Infant CPR- CPR (Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation) is one of the most important things that you need to learn. Chance are that you will never actually need to use it in a situation where you are babysitting. However, it is extremely important to know it just in case. There have been many cases if a babysitter had known CPR, they could have saved the life of a child that was in trouble. Most Red Cross office can tell you where you can sign up for a course so that you can become certified in CPR procedures for both infants and older people. Letting parents know that you have become certified in these techniques will also help you get the job over another teenager.

First Aid- First aid is important to know in any babysitting job as well. Children fall down and get hurt everyday. Knowing about different injuries and how you can help if a serious injury should occur when someone else is in your care will make you feel better about babysitting. We don't always think about these things until it is too late. You have a chance to make sure that you are completely prepared if an accident should happen while the children are in your care.

Infant Care- There are infant care classes available much like they have in high school for teenagers to learn about what it is like to have a baby and to have small children. Learning how to change diapers, feed a baby and do general things for baby care will make it much easier when you actually attempt to do it with a live child. Learning these things ahead of time can give you valuable insight into what it will really be like handling children. Though we would like to believe that children are sweet and innocent, the truth is, they are sometimes bad. It is human nature and you should be well prepared for it ahead of time to make sure that you ready and willing to handle any situation.

Early Childhood- There are often early childhood classes offered in high schools that would be great for those who wish to understand the psychology of children a little better. This is a great course for those who want to be babysitters or have been babysitting and want a little more experience. Learning all you can about small children will help you in your tasks as a babysitter in being able to help when it comes to children's behavior.

These are some of the best classes that teenagers can take to help with babysitting if you so choose to do that. Babysitting is a great way for teenagers to make a little extra money. Knowing more about children can only help you to do your job better. Babysitting is very serious business. Someone's life is in your hands. Be capable of that job before taking it on.
