The soft cushion of the airbag gives protection to the head of an adult in a crash both from the front and side wise. Airbags work within half a second from the collision at high speeds ranging over 200 kmph. Such an abrupt opening up of the bag takes the passenger by surprise and can cause negative effect to the person in collision time. It can be averted with proper adjustment of the seatbelt and the front seats. There should a safe distance between the steering wheel and the drivers body to permit the airbags to open up properly. Be careful to make it certain that the airbags get clear space to blow up for your safety and not restricted by other accessories in the car.
A child or any aged person should make a car ride preferably in the back seat to avoid any untoward collision of the vehicle and more so in cars with airbags. The operation of airbags poses practical threats to children or ailing persons and they should opt for the back seats of vehicles on safety grounds
Vehicles meeting frontal collisions at minimal speed operate airbags and can make harm to children very seriously. Reports confirm that fatal injuries have been affected by airbags operation taking the precious lives of many children riding in the front seat of cars and without appropriate safety measures. This explains the risk associated with the use of airbags concerning children and aged persons.
Many young children do not take necessary precautions while riding the front seat of a vehicle. They take the precautionary measures very lightly and end up with serious injuries. Airbags may be of acute danger in uncontrolled driving, a child riding the front seat or even an adult and may cost their lives. Recent assessments show a large number of young kids with uncontrolled driving and thereby meeting fatal accidents.
Another dangerous acquisition is the rear-facing seats for infants. In all practical probability, the infant stays in the front portion of the car with side wise air bags. In a frontal collision of the car, the airbags would immediately operate and hit the seat with a very strong power which may be severely harmful for the infant in the seat. Front facing seats for the kids are more risky due to their closeness to the dashboard than the normal.
It will be wise to make arrangements for the kid in the back seat of a vehicle for better safety purpose. If at all the kid has to be put in the front seat, the seat should be pushed back as far as possible for the safety of the child.
You will be safer if you follow some basic guidelines for safe travel. Make sure to wear seat belts and ensure that every other passenger takes proper precautions. Put kids below the age of 12 in the back seat of the car. Maintain a safe distance from the steering wheel while driving so that there remains a safe gap for the operation of airbags, if required. Ask co-passengers to sit properly and refrain from spreading the legs in the front. Keep the front seats pushed back to its maximum limit for the airbags to operate without any hazards causing to passengers. All this measures are basically for your own safety and security for other passengers of the vehicle.
