Important Tips for Publishing Your Own Email Newsletter

One of the most effective methods of email marketing is through the publication of an email newsletter, commonly refered to as an ezine. Not only is it an excellent way to maintain contact with your list subscribers, through regular contact, they will be more likely to value your words and be more receptive to buying from you whenever you do present them with a product for sale.

The first and most important aspect to publishing an ezine is to make sure you provide interesting and useful content for your subscribers. The more valuable the content you can furnish the greater your reputation as a expert, informed source you will become. This does not mean you necessarily have to spend a lot of time researching and writing all the articles and information yourself. You can utilize the article directories and find many articles available that can be freely used so long as you do not remove the Author Resource Box at the end of the article.

Your ezine should be designed to make money for you. The primary way of doing this is to include three or four advertisements throughout the ezine. You can sell the ad space to others. The greater your circulation, the more you will be able to charge for the space. You can also use some of the space to advertise your own products or an affiliate product you are promoting. The best locations for the advertisements are one at the top, another at the bottom, and one or two interspersed throughout the middle of the ezine body. Always clearly indicate that it is an advertisement so your reader will not mistake it for part of the ezine content.

You can promote your ezine in several ways. It can be provided as a bonus with the subscription to a membership site if you are running one. Use the content to supplement and enhance the content of the site. You can use your free ezine as an enticement to sign up for your mailing list. You can also provide a signup field for the ezine directly on your website or product advertising squeeze pages. In every issue be sure to encourage readers to share the ezine with friends who may be interested and provide an easy way for them to subscribe themselves.

There are also several methods for publishing your ezine. There are list subscription companies that will keep up with your email list, the double-opt-in forms, and other files needed for legal purposes as well as sending your completed ezine out for you. Depending on the size of your list and the services needed, the cost can be very affordable. You can also contract the services of an autoresponder company to do the publishing for you. With an autoresponder service you have the added benefit of being able to run email campaigns from the same location as your ezine. For the do-it-yourselfer, there are several excellent autoresponder software programs available that can be installed on your website's server and you can do all the necessary chores directly from there.

By using an autoresponder to publish your ezine, you can more easily follow up on your customer's purchases and make yourself a better-known and friendly merchant of product and information. By coupling your ezine with an email marketing campaign, you not only have an extra way of connecting with your readers but you can more firmly establish your brand recognition for the times in the future when they need a product you offer. Whatever niche you are working in, you should not ignore the benefits of an ezine for both sales and reputation building.
