Improve Your Health with More Me Time

1) Comedy TV Show: Ease minor aches and pains by watching at least 30 minutes of comedy TV shows a day. Laughter helps to increase the brain's production of narcotic analgesics, which are your body's natural painkillers called opiates.

2) Night Out With Friends: Spending a few hours once a week with your friends will help to improve your mood. Socializing with other people lessens your body's output of cortisol, a steroid hormone, also known as the "stress hormone", which can cause depression.

3) Reading: Strengthen your immunity against colds by reading for at least 10 minutes a day. Enjoying your favorite book or magazine stimulates the release of oxytocin. This natural hormone, also known as the "cuddle hormone", helps to counteract the stress hormone that increases your risk of infections.

4) Red Wine: Boost your energy by drinking an 8 oz. glass of red wine daily. Red wine contains resveratrol, an antioxidant nonflavonoid compound found in grape skins. Resveratrol improves the function of mitochondria, membrane-bound organelles that are responsible for energy production in the cells.

5) Road Trip: Improve your memory by taking a short road trip once a week. Pick an unfamiliar route and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Driving stimulates your brainpower by increasing the size of your brain's hippocampus, a major component in your brain that has the central role of processing memories.
