I was looking for a resource that we could use in our home. I was looking for an inexpensive product that would be fun for her and I to work on together. I chose to purchase Speechercise CD - Volume 1 Music CD by Twin Sister Productions. Twin Sister Productions is an educational company who is well known for their music and educational CD's. Because of the wide variety of products they sold, I felt confident that the product would be of good quality. The product cost under $12 and I found in on Amazon.com
I am very pleased with the product. The music CD contains over thirty tracks. The CD starts out with basic warm up tracks. These are my daughter's favorites! They ask you to make silly faces, do tongue push-ups and lick your lips. It sounds strange, but it helps your child practice the motions they need to form words and strengthen muscles needed for speech. The warm up drills are all very engaging for the preschool age group and have fun music with them.
The next tracks consist of drills for certain consonant and vowel patterns. What I love about this CD is that every track is clearly labeled. My daughter pronounces most sounds correctly, so I can skip over those and focus on the tracks that she needs work on. Some of the songs on the CD ask children to repeat words and others just allow them to hear the sounds said correctly. The format of a CD makes it easy to pop in for a car ride, or to allow you child to dance around the living room to.
The last series of tracks on the CD are tongue twisters. These are great because the instructor on the CD says them and then children's voices on the CD repeat them. My daughter laughs as her and I try to say these silly sentences!
Another great feature of this product is that you can place the CD in your computer and print out a companion booklet. The booklet offers advice, activities and worksheets that go along with the CD. It's just another good way to get in some extra speech practice.
If you are looking for a fun way to improve your child's speech, be sure to check out Speechercise. I was really surprised at what a great and fun CD it is for the money!

Post a CommentIt really pays to be so proactive pre-schoolers. When our kids were toddlers we kept a little white board in our kitchen for grocery list and notes etc. After a while our kids would write on the board and after a while my husband would write new words on the board almost every day.
Now at 19 years old our son will still come home from college and say, "I learned a new word today Mom."
