Don Imus is back. Not that I thought he would never return. His new digs are at 770 WABC in New York a division of the Citadel corporation and he has retained the majority of staff from when he was fired at WFAN; notably Charles McCord his partner for the past thirty years and Bernard McGuirk who produced the ill-fated show that threw him off the air. The show will be syndicated across the ABC radio network.

Imus devoted the first half-hour on the air to apologize once more to the Rutgers Women's Basketball team and talked about the four hour meeting he had with them and their coach at the residence of New Jersey Governor John Corzine back in April. He said he was thankful and humbled by the fact they forgave him for his comment of "nappy-headed hos." He said, "I will never say anything in my lifetime that will make any of these young women at Rutgers regret or feel foolish that they accepted my apology and forgave me."

To help balance staff diversity, Imus hired on two black comedians, Karith Foster and Tony Powell. " The fact that he now has a black sidekick...may speak of some of the measures that his new employers have put in to make sure that there's not a repeat offense," said The Rev. Al Sharpton who was the driving force in getting Imus fired.

The new show is to be simulcast on RFD-TV a cable channel that reaches 30 million homes. With programs such as, Machinery of the Past, I Love Toy Trains and Quilt in a Day being aired daily how will the Imus show fit into a rural environment? "Don's passion and understanding of rural America fits in so well with our on-going effort to bridge city and country folks with this cable channel," said Patrick Gottsch, Founder & President of Rural Media Group, Inc. "We expect the same overwhelmingly positive response from our audience with the addition of Imus In The Morning...to our program schedule," he added.

As Imus fans begin to reset their radio program buttons they will hear a more sensitive Imus spewing his dialog. Imus hopes to regain his credibility as a shock jock by tempering salty content and at the same time retaining his expertise on government and his passion for charitable contributions particularly The Imus Ranch for Kids with Cancer.

Welcome back Imus.
