In Your Absence

Laura Minning
The sun grows weary,
and closes its eyes,
whilst laying
another day's happenstances
to rest.

Night falls quickly now,
and with the determination
of tasking the moon
to take its rightful place
as watcher
over the night sky,
the heavens above
and all who dwell below it.

It finds me all alone
in my empty room,
surrounded by candlelight,
and clothed only
with moist thoughts
of your warm embrace.

As I dream
of being in your arms again;
and long for you
to caress my naked flesh
with your quivering lips,
whilst pace the rhythms
of your own heartbeat
along with mine…
yet again…
and one more time…
