In the air there is an eerie smell of impending disaster but there is no one who can tell the exact nature of this impending so they go to the temple of the goddess Nutmeg to find comfort and solace in this time of great uncertainty. In the temple there is an enormous statue representing the goddess and for those in the know the facial appearance of the huge statue has every resemblance to the first grand lady who embellished the city some long ago. The goddess Nutmeg has multiple characteristics from that of fertility to the holder of the stars and the sun in they're seasonal path, and in this time as in all times when the feeling of dread is heighten, this is the divinity that all gravitates too for courage and security. All of the local seers are shut to the mouth of any form of wisdom as to the identity of the fragrance that floats in the air that all are very aware of and even the king of the city is very frustrated in they're lack of vision on this matter as he witness his subjects becoming more and more unnerved.
Those who can do so have been thoroughly searching the written works of old to see if for their day and time if there is anything that has been foretold, but there is nothing that has yet to be found written that would alert and prepare them for what seems to be unfolding. The greater fear is not in the knowing but in the mystery that sweeps across the conscious mind of the many because there is no adequate defense against the unseen and there is no comfort of heart in walking in the sunlight of ignorance so by faith they reach to what they have some confidence and that is the goddess Nutmeg whom none has ever seen in the body. The watchers of the city have scouted about and have detected no military adversary anywhere lurking about so they conclude that what is in the air is not human in nature and what else that it can be has them stumbling in the dark looking for what they know not. The chief priest of the temple to the goddess Nutmeg has been pinned to the press recently and has closed himself off in hiding to escape the pressure of the people who seek answers that he does not have to reassure them of what he does not know.
At a point in time when no comforting answers were forthcoming a band of the fearful went into a small neighboring village and laid anxious hands upon a young delicate virgin whom they brought back to the city urgently to perform the rights of sacrifice to the unseen world with her as they're gift to appease it. This is a thing that has never been done before, that a person should be given to the unseen as an appeasement by blood rights, and no one knew what to ask for in return for her sacrifice since the smell in the air did not share any particulars with anyone of them as to the reason for the feeling of fright that the unknown is constantly building up inside of them. The delicate young virgin is taken to the temple of the goddess Nutmeg and is promptly handed over to the chief priest who has no idea at all as how to proceed with a ritual that has never been conducted before and as she openly expresses her disagreement of she being a fearful solution to the unknown dread the chief priest finds it to be impossible to act out upon her as the anxious populous wants him too.
Studying the delicate young virgin very closely the chief priest of the temple to the goddess Nutmeg is suddenly gripped by sheer inspiration as he notes the striking likeness in appearance that the delicate young virgin has to the statue of the goddess Nutmeg, and so he collects the finest of robes that he can muster and directs the delicate young virgin to spend a goodly amount of time bathing herself in the sacred pool of fountains to make herself holy before the eyes above that views the activities of the inhabitants of the earth. When the delicate young virgin presents herself to the chief priest of the goddess Nutmeg he is so overwhelmed by the vision of her that he instinctively falls to his knees and offers her homage and in like manner when he presents her before the frightful populous they too hail her as the goddess Nutmeg who is alive and well and physically living amongst them. From that day forward the smell of disaster that was in the air dissipates into a refreshing newness and the delicate young virgin becomes a symbol of security in the face of uncertainty whose very presence denounces the folly of taking rash actions because of fear
