In the Beginning God Created

The Beauty of Nature

Lee Hansen
I spend a lot of time in my home office on a regular basis. It is at this location that I find inspiration to write and where I learn many lessons from nature. There is a window that gives me a clear view of what is happening outdoors.

Just a few short weeks ago the trees and flower bushes were still quite bare. It's almost as if they didn't want to awake from a long and peaceful slumber. While driving in the car with my husband the other day I made mention of this fact. Then all of a sudden it seemed that leaves were sprouting from every tree and bush. Flowers of different varieties are in full-bloom just waiting to be noticed. What a beautiful picture of life and of God's glorious creation.

Often I am positively distracted by the melodious chirping of the birds. They seem to perch a lot in a small tree in front of our house. Recently red-breasted robins have regularly started congregating in some of our bushes next to my office window. I enjoy seeing the fluttering of their wings as if they were putting on a show just for me.

I take notice of the many hours and hard work that my husband has put in to make our lawn look like a spectacular showpiece in our neighborhood. He is definitely gifted with a green thumb. He loves the earthiness of pulling weeds and fertilizing the grass. But ultimately it is God who places every blade of grass in place.

My eyes are drawn to the fluffiness of the clouds in a blue sky. A feeling of coziness surrounds me. When the sun peeks through with its powerful rays of illumination it reminds me that for now all is well. I'm grateful.

Nature is such a thing of beauty. I stand in awe when I see mountains strategically placed by the hands of God. When I see a body of water teeming with fish or a lake filled with boats I am sometimes left speechless. The buzz of a bee in a flower on its way to make honey blows my mind away. It is indescribable to me.

I think of a verse from Psalms 8:9 that says, "O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!"(NIV).

As I get older I am starting to more and more appreciate the things that nature has to offer. I am encouraged to know that God the Creator is powerful. I'm glad for the fingerprint that He has placed in nature for us all to enjoy.

Take some time to behold the beauty of nature. And as time allows, get out and enjoy it.

  • Nature gives us things to enjoy that we often overlook.
  • I love the sound of birds chirping.
  • Only God the Creator could create such beauty.
Nature parks are great places to learn about the outdoors. Many offer hiking trails for a wonderful experience.

Nature never fails us though we cannot claim likewise! A lovely article thanking the Creator for blessing us so abundantly. Modern life makes us less appreciative of other species around us. It is our loss. Thanks for uplifting our spirits, Lee - siva

Well stated friend. The creation declares God's glory, power, and majesty as He is creator of all.
