In the Beginning God Created the Heaven and the Earth

Was Man the First Creation?

Introduction
My personal religious denomination is Christian. I am non denominational, which almost seems to be a denomination of it's own. I believe that God created man, earth, and everything on it. I don't believe in evolution nor do I believe the earth is only 7,000 years old. I believe science may be close to accurate in estimating the age of the earth. Most people read the Bible and assume it says that the earth is only 7,000 years old. What is very interesting is that only man has a 7,000 year history that can be accurately traced and verified by archeology.

Genesis Chapter One
"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." That sentence is very straight forward, or so it seems at first glance. If God pre-existed before He started to create the Heaven and the earth, then when exactly was "the beginning?" It was seem as though it was the beginning of time, space, matter, etc. The verse seems to imply that God established a starting point, so to speak.

"And the earth was without form and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep, and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters." Genesis 1:2

As I got older and started to question my beliefs and the Bible, I started to look deeper into things that I used to just accept. For example, the verse above clearly states that the earth was without form and void (empty), so I can only assume that Genesis 1:3-27 is some kind of reshaping or rebuilding of some sort.

What's With The Water?
Is it just me or did anyone else notice that Genesis 1 doesn't cover the creation of water? I can only assume that water had been previously created at some point since the Spirit of God was hovering over it in verse 2. Why exactly was the earth covered in water to begin with? God starts to seperate stuff out of the water during the creation process, but why was water covering the earth?

This is just a theory, maybe not an original theory, but did God wipe out a previous civilization for some unknown reason? The Hebrew and Aramaic versions seem to suggest that the earth "became" without form (tohu in Hebrew) and void (bohu in Hebrew) or as the Aramaic suggests, ruined and uninhabitable. After learning this, I got to thinking. If the earth was just being created, how exactly did it "become" ruined and uninhabitable?

Adam: Not The First Creation
Based on the Bible, Adam was created some time after the angels, but what was on earth before Adam? In the King James version of the Bible, God tells Adam, "Be fruitful and multiply and replinish the earth..." Genesis 1:27. I'm not an english major, but doesn't the word replinish mean to put back? If nothing was there, how could Adam put something back?

What Is God Hiding?
The concept of God hiding something was a hard concept for me to grasp when I started to rediscover my faith. And for many it still is. Interestingly enough though, Proverbs has a very strange verse. "It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter." Proverbs 25:2. So based on the Bible, God does indeed hide some things, but why hide this information?

This is just speculation, but what if somehow angels are connected to this planet in a way that we haven't even begin to realize? All throughout history, different cultures have different myths, legends, and stories of multiple creations. What if everyone has a little piece of the story and our job is to put it together some how?

Conclusion
There is plenty of evidence from science, history, and archeology that suggests that we may not be the first civilization to inhabit this planet. Maybe we are just one in a long line of creations previous and yet to come. I would love to read your opinions on the matter. I don't claim to be an expert and I certainly don't claim that everything presented here is 100% proven or a fact in anyway. It is just my opinon based on what I have read.

Hi. Your thought of the earth being RE-plenished and that the angels (perhaps the fallen angels) being already active on the planet has been the cause of much religious discussion for centuries - in fact since the onset of the written scriptures. One of the first people mentioned in the genealogy tree in Genesis is Enoch and apparently he wrote his own scripture that mentions pretty much the same thing that you theorize. Check out the book of Enoch and you'll get a better understanding of your theories. Enoch lays it all out. The Book of Enoch though is not considered part of the Canon of the Bible. However Jude (vs. 14) quotes the book of Enoch. Also, please do a search for a similar biblical theory called The Gap Theory. It seems widely debated amongst theologians.
