In March of 2007, Sight and Sound premiered "In the Beginning" which depicts the miraculous story of creation and the beginning of mankind. The response from the patrons to this new show was overwhelming. Nearly every show of the 300+ performances were completely sold. This year, "In the Beginning" is returning to the stage at Sight and Sound. The opportunity to see creation depicted through inspiring music and drama, beautifully designed sets, entertaining animals, and thrilling lighting and special effects, is an experience you will not want to miss.
"In the Beginning" opens with a powerful presentation of the 6 days of creation. Through the use of media and many special effects the events of those 6 days come to life. Light comes forth out of darkness; the firmament is created; the earth and the seas are made; the sun, moon, and stars fill the air; unique animals are created. Finally on the sixth day, man is created. You will witness man coming forth from the ground by the hand of God. Then, after creation is completed almighty God sees that His creation is good, and He rests.
God places man, Adam, in charge of the beautiful Garden of Eden. One of the most impressive parts in the show is the revealing of this garden. Trees, flowers, plants, and animals of unique colors, shapes, and designs cover the main stage as well as two side stages. Adam loves the garden and the animals, but something was missing in his life. So, God creates him a helpmate, woman, and Adam called her Eve. These first two human beings shared an incredible relationship with each other and their God. Their Creator gave them one rule,"The tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat." The consequence of disobedience would be death, separation from God.
"In the Beginning" portrays the evilness of Satan, and his plot to destroy mankind. Adam and Eve are tempted by Satan, disguised as a serpent, to brake God's rule. When Adam and Eve eat of the fruit of the tree, mankind is forever changed. Sin has entered the world. Because God is perfect, He will not tolerate sin. At the end of Act I, Adam and Eve are cast out of the garden.
Act II opens with the immediate consequences of sin. Instead of being in a perfect garden, Adam and Eve are forced to work a land with thorns and weeds. Eve endures painful child birth. Animals have become blood-hunters. The sin of Adam and Eve cost them a dear price.
Their sin carries on to the next generation as well. "In the Beginning" shows the story of Adam and Eve's sons, Cain and Abel. The eldest son, Cain, was jealous of the younger. Out of malice and anger, Cain kills Abel. As Adam and Eve hold their dead son in their arms, they continue to see the result of their sin. Near the end of the show, Eve endures the traumatic loss of Adam. Eve sings, "Will I See Him Again" written by David T. Clydesdale. She is looking for some hope, some glimmer of light in this now sad world of darkness.
At the end of the show, Christ appears in the newly restored garden with holes in His hands. You see, Christ, the perfect sacrifice, paid the penalty for all the sins of mankind when He died on the cross. Because of His sacrifice, man can live again with him in heaven if mankind believes on Jesus Christ. Adam and Eve appear in the restored garden and join the host of other believers at the Wedding Feast of the Lamb.
This is an incredible Biblically-based musical that will have you smiling, crying, and rejoicing. Join the thousands of other people who experienced "In the Beginning" last year. The show is open June 27, 2008 - October 25, 2008. Ticket prices range from $16.00 - $54.00. For more information on show times, dates, and ticket prices, you can go to Sight-Sound.com.

Post a CommentI hadn't heard of this musical ministry before. Pretty neat idea! :o) (should clarify that I'm not a Christian, tho) Anyhow, you might like Verdi's opera 'Nabucco', then. It's about Nebuchadnessar and his daughters set during the 3rd occupation of Jerusalem. :o)... or even Richard Strauss' 'Die Frau ohne Schatten'.
