In the Black: A Poem Celebrating Black History Month

Do you think of Black History month when you think of February? Black History Month celebrates the great achievements of African Americans. I am a writer and a poet and I been inspired by many African Americans since childhood. Therfore, I will celebrate Black History Month by writing a poem using the words black, history, and month.

B: is for Bill Cosby who taught us about Jello pudding and Fat Albert
L: is for literary giants Terry McMillian and Maya Angelou
A: is for a celebration of African American achievements
C: is for Cicely Tyson playing Rosa Parks
K: is for knowledge needed for everyone

H: is for history
I: is for inspiration
S: is for storytelling
T: is for tenderness and tenacity
O: is for orator
R: is for reading
Y: is for yearing

M: is for Martin and Malcolm
O: is for October in the United Kingdom
N: is for not giving up
T: is for tough
H: is for healing
