In the Darkness of the Morning

A Meditation

Deonils
IN THE DARKNESS OF THE MORNING
imperceptibly, the light came
the window's cross cast by the streetlamp,
the only relief in a black room,
tiny window reflecting the day, unborn!

in the dawn not yet broken
past, present and future jostled as one;
a jostling, imperfect but nimble dancer,
while i thought of words, poets, seers... my broken home.

Breathing In ... repeating a formula;
fighting another darkness of creeping, stealthy sleep;
Opening my eyes, I focus on the window's again
Breathing Out ... this wall has no window, only shadow!

breathing in...mantra ...and a slow outgoing breath:
there is some clarity now; I can discern
in the darkness two chairs that belong in the room,
outlines of a table, closet, even radio and antenna ...

breathing in, I know....Exhaling, bitter poisons depart
Dawn is breaking... Iam breathing, I KNOW
"Light and Darkness is the Truth of the Universe"
The light ref;ection on my wall helps my pupils adjust to this Truth
