In Flames' Come Clarity Album is a Powerful Hit

Metal Has Never Felt so Good

Andrew Berry
In Flames newest CD titled "Come Clarity" is a definite hit in the world of metal, as well as music in general. In Flames sets a new standard to metal by using various harmonies, background vocals, melodic solos, and heavy guitar riffs. Aside from "Come Clarity", In Flames has 11 other CDs, making the grand total of CDs recorded by In Flames 12 since August 1994.

In Flames is a Swedish death metal band that originated in the city of Gothenburg, Sweden. However, even though In Flames is a band originating in Sweden, and has won many Swedish awards, they have sold many albums in the United States of America. "Come Clarity" is their highest selling album in the United States in America weighing in at 110,000 copies sold. One of the awards that In Flames has gained is the Best Hardrock album in the 2007 Swedish Grammy Awards.

The powerful album is approximately 48 minutes and 6 seconds long, which is a good length for an album. The tracks included on "Come Clarity", as well as the time length for each tracks are as followed:

  • "Take This Life" - 3:35
  • "Leeches" - 2:55
  • "Reflect The Storm" - 4:16
  • "Dead End" - 3:22
  • "Scream" - 3:12
  • "Come Clarity" - 4:15
  • "Vacuum" - 3:39
  • "Pacing Death's Trail" - 3:00
  • "Crawl Through Knives" - 4:02
  • "Versus Terminus" - 3:18
  • "Our Infinite Struggle" - 3:46
  • "Vanishing Light" - 3:14
  • "Your Bedtime Story Is Scaring Everyone" - 5:25

Each song is different, yet also powerful in its own sense. One track even includes a female singer, Lisa Miskovsky. The track that contains the beautiful voice of Lisa Miskovsky is "Dead End", track number 4. Also, each song seems to contain different message within its lyrics. Although the lyrics are sometimes hard to decipher if you're not used to it, they are definitly there.

Also, it is estimated that "Come Clarity" sold around 284,000 albums worldwide, becoming a top contender in Sweden on the musical charts.

The only downfall of the album is the vocals, which I personally like, but usually don't like the type of singing it is. The album is mostly yelling, but unlike most other bands you can decipher what they are saying. I believe that the vocals give the songs a 'heavier' feeling, without going as so far to make them unbearable. There are, of course, lyrics that are not yelling, and are "actual" singing. I like the feel of the vocals when it is put together with the instruments, it creates a powerful feel to the music, in every single song.

Take a look at In Flames official web page for more information on them and their music. If you're into any sort of hardrock or metal I suggest picking up "Come Clarity" as soon as you can.
