What a breathtaking sight
the day you took flight;
no longer afraid to try,
you gave it all of your might.
Your little wings were frail,
but your determination was strong.
And now you soar through the sky,
some journeys short, and others long.
You have the freedom to fly -
no need to wait in line.
Embrace the aerial magic of life
one beautiful trip at a time.

Post a CommentAh, beautiful description of another part of Life's rhythm.
This is a fantastic poem...inspirational and bittersweet. I didn't originally take it as a "parental poem" but in that light it's even stronger.
I very nice poem -- like a subtle white tea with a hint of berry blossom. Poignant, and delicate.
Very Nice, once again.
Beautiful. I love the picture.
I love this poem. It's beautiful!
This is a very beautiful poem. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks everyone! I wrote this poem as well as "Parental Love" as a tribute to my stepchildren; hence, the same photo was used for both entries. It is a bittersweet time when a parent comes to the realization that their children are no longer "children" but rather, young adults!
This is really nice, Jamie, I just waited a day to read it because that other one sort of scared me! -- Mike
Awesome. Loved it. Such a way with words.
