In the Forest

Janis I. Monroe
The morning sun crawls over the horizon
Resting its golden rays on a dew crusted rose
The warmth of the sun beckons the flower to awaken
Heeding to its strengthening power
The rose slowly stretches its petals
Being cautious to the outer world

As the rose blooms
The dew drizzles down the petals
And splashes instinctively, like rain, onto the ground

The rest of the world awakens
Birds start to sing their morning melody
As the animals of the forest begin to stir
They go in search of food and exciting adventures
Until many hours pass
And sleep stalks them once again

Thus, the general cycle of life

Day by day
The sun rises
The sun sets
Only to rise again when the rooster crows
