In Haiti: Release of the 10 American Missionaries is in Process

A Haiti Judge to Release Order Soon

SB
The release of 10 American Baptist missionaries is reported to be in process, after Haiti Judge Bernard Saint-Vil found "no criminal intent" on the part of all the accused, Reuters reported.

It can be recalled that the American missionaries have been behind bars since January 29, after Haitian authorities intercepted the bus they were riding, at the border of Haiti and Dominican Republic. They were considered caught red-handed, since the 33 kids in subject (allegedly sent for adoptions) were with them in the same bus.

Although, it hasn't been finalize yet, and defense lawyers still wait for the judge' order, the accused themselves are all confident of their release. The prosecutor can still make an appeal, but the Judge's word would be the final say.

Laura Silsby, who speaks on behalf of all her co-accused, said that the American government is now in full cooperation with the defense, and that they believe it did made the difference, along with the overflowing prayers from the Christian community worldwide and the sworn testimonies of the parents in the light of the investigation, made everything possible for them to achieve justice.

Silsby admitted that they were not carrying documents when they were intercepted, but said that it was all because, right after the quake, the safety of the children have been their utmost consideration.

The 10 American missionaries are members of Central Valley and East Side Baptist Church both from Idaho, which is a part of America's largest Protestant Denomination, Southern Baptist Convention. The group had been very active in extending humanitarian works all over the world.
