"In My Head" Entry 2

Josh Harnish
So I went to church tonight. A Thursday night. Rather different but truly awesome! A great time of worship; God inspired teaching; people being healed... {if you don't believe in that stuff , that's okay. Just know that some day when you need a miracle, God's listening. Literally.} Anyway, the night ended, and I made my way to my car. Driving home, I let my mind rest. Not thinking much about the day, or even about how I had been challenged a few hours before. I simply enjoyed my music, and kept enough of the brain waves flying to drive safely. Then I remembered my gas tank.

"I really should fill up. All right... we'll take that route home." Twenty minutes later I pulled into the gas station.

$2.21 a gallon. "God, I pray that you would soften people's hearts."

No one else was around when I began to fill up, and while the gas started pumping, I washed my windshield. It was rather could in my thin sweater.

"Click" The gas stopped. 12.5 gallons, now in my tank. Why not make it an even thirteen. Just then another car pulled up in the lane beside me.

"Yea, I can put another 5 gallons in there..."

"Fill up his car." I looked up. God was talking to me again.

It was a small, light blue car.

12.7

An older gentleman was in the driver's seat.

12.8

"Son you know what I want you to do. Remember your song's of worship tonight."

12.9

I had sung "...All I am is yours!" Every word was from my heart.

The man got out of his car and moved to the card slot. I replaced the nozzle and screwed in the gas lid.

"Offer to fill up his car."

"I really want to obey! What's stopping me?"

The man began to fill up. I got in my car and watched him for a second. He only put four gallons or so into his tank, and then stopped. Now his car was small, but not that small. I wanted to step out, trust that I was really hearing God's heart, and say "Sir, I'd like to bless you in the name of Jesus and fill up your car." But I turned the key, my car came to life, and I moved out to the street. I missed another opportunity to draw closer to God through obedience. I missed another chance to be a God sent blessing. I missed... but now as I look back at it, one thought flashes in my head. The day is going to come when I am so consumed by God! And when it comes...
