In Honor of St. Patrick's Day

Ruth Carter
Upon this bonny day

In this lovely time of year,

We adorn our green array

To remember and revere

A man who bore a shamrock,

A clover with three leaves,

Used to teach those of God's lost flock

About the holy truth, the Trinity.

Some say that this holy man

Who encouraged others to repent

Drove out of beautiful Ireland

Even the feared and dreaded serpents.

On that special March day,

As we are adorning our green,

Let us remember the way

That St. Patrick would have been.

Always been interested in St. Patrick's story. Nice idea to bring it to us via a poem.

The rhyming was nearly sarcastic and I enjoy the attitude and contrast between, perhaps, WWJD vs WWSPD =-)
