In June

The glass enclosure displays us,
round, fecund, and uncomfortable,

Heat beating down on our brows
and bellies clenching in Braxton-Hicks,
fetuses performing katas and gymnastic feats.

We sweat, waiting for numbers
signifying destinations near and far.

Departures and arrivals change our company
but our complaints are the same in the hot sun
counting down in unison to estimated due dates.
