"In Justice"

Bryan Belrad
The court is not concerned,

The jury is adjourned.

The verdict is read,

They want a man dead,

Ordered tied to a stake and then burned.

.

A sentence of death was returned,

A public appeal, spurned.

Mistakes were made,

Political debts were paid,

Now you get what another man earned.

.

It seems so hard to die;

The evidence proved your innocence,

But the trial was just a lie;

And passionate rage took precedence.

.

It happens all the time,

One pays for another man's crime.

But to think it would happen to you?

Lord, it CAN'T be true!

.

And still, the court is not concerned,

The jury is adjourned.

The verdict is read,

They want a man dead,

Ordered tied to a stake and then burned.
