In Me

Mike Bauman
The storm surges angry and so very strong.
But I will not quit, I will go on.

The waves they crash and wind it will howl
But I will not falter, I'll never bow.

People will say, "You just can't win."
But I will press on, I'll prevail again.

Some people say, "Just give up, don't try."
But I will keep trying 'til the day that I die.

The smart money's not on me, the odds are too long.
But deep down inside me, there's something that's strong.

You maybe can't see it, it's casing is battered.
It's light is near hidden. The outside looks tattered.

But each of my trials makes the shell a bit thinner.
Each bump and bruise, is releasing the winner.

I claim my birthright. I claim my prize.
Those that oppose me, can stuff all their lies.

So keep up your chipping, it just makes me stronger.
The easier my life is, my freedom takes longer.

So keep up your scraping, you're just setting it free,
and let me introduce you to the victor in me.
