In the Middle of the Night

Darla M. Beck
In the middle of the night
Nightmares invade my dreams

Terror fills the darkness
Haunting my restless sleep
Eerie images I can't escape

Monsters in the shadows
I cannot run and hide
Doomed to be their prey
Destined to be captured
Longing for the real world
Eager to see the sunlight

Out of the darkness
Frightening creatures appear

Terrorizing my dreams
Hopelessness I'm feeling
Endless night continues on

Nightmares haunting me
I wish I were awake
Ghosts from my past
Haunts me every night
Taking over my dreams
