In Review "The Blind Side"

A Review of the Film

Julian Douglas
I generally do not do reviews of films, but this one I think deserves a bit of attention. The movie is "The Blind Side". Directed by John Lee Hancock. It stars Sandra Bullock as Leigh Ann Tuhoy. A suburban wife and mother, who brings an under privileged teenage boy into her families home, and gives him the chance of a life time. Based on a true story, the film follows Michael Oher from being a homeless youth to being a top prospect for college football, and on to becoming one of the top draft picks for the NFL. Oher who lived in an impoverished area of Memphis Tennessee, was given the chance to attend Briar Crest Christian School, where he gained the attention of Tuhoy. Tuhoy, a football fanatic, realized the potential of Oher to be a great offensive lineman. Oher goes from being a very passive yet quite large man, to being a great football player with the help of Leigh Ann. He is befriended by the Tuhoy's son, who becomes his closest companion. Soon Oher is a part of the Tuhoy family, who supports him in all of his endeavors. But his choice of college football schools is soon drawn into question when the league finds out the Tuhoys are alumni of the school and give support to the football program. This touching story is based on the real life of Michael Oher and the Tuhoy family. Be sure to give this film a chance, even if you are not a fan of sports movies. This film has something for everyone.
