In This Space, Living Statues

By Jay Crider

It is hard to believe,
now sitting here
on bourbon street
that twisted life
now takes place
in this space.
Unique characters
like
living statues,
musicians, artisit,
and alcohol
drenched bums
greet each
and every day.
Strange
how the path of life
has made its way
to this party
driven city.
Two failed
suicide attempts,
an overdose,
and years
of addiction.
To be in the right mind
in a place
saturated with an indulgent
attitude towards fleshly
vices.
Again, amazement and awe
are induced
when it all dawns
dollars are made
to live
here on
Bourbon Street.
