In the Spring There Will Be Portuguese Water Dogs Running Around the White House Lawn

It is hard to believe that the Portuguese Water Dog was almost extinct several years ago, but now their numbers have returned to healthy numbers. It also seems to be the dog of choice of the Democrats, apparently Senator Ted Kennedy has a Portuguese Water Dog. President Barrack Obama would like to retrieve their pet(s) from a rescue shelter. That may be very difficult, because Portuguese Water Dogs are usually the choice of breeders, and breeders do not send their dogs to shelters. According to Pet Forum, it seems that the going price for a Portuguese Water Dog is going to run our First Family over $1700 dollars. How does this compare to say a Affenpinscher which will run you about $576 (and less if you can pronounce the name correctly on the first try), an Alaskan Malamute will cost you $823, or say an Australian Cattle Dog is a modest $301, (these dogs can be trained to do useful tasks like rounding up transients who have strayed onto the White House Lawn), and the list goes on.

I am not sure why the First Family have made their dog of choice a Portuguese Water Dog, but it is probably a good choice for President Barrack Obama's two young healthy daughters Malia and Sasha. According to the Portuguese Water Dog Club of America these dogs need lots of space to run around. This would be perfect for two energetic children. I am sure that the children and the dogs will get lots of exercise over the next few years.

Grooming the Portuguese Water Dog requires a lot of attention, much like the poodle. I am sure that grooming will not be a problem for President Barrack Obama, after all this after all will be farmed out to one of Washington's finest dog groomers. I am sure that there will be Dog Groomers offering the services to the President at cut rates, just to have the honor of putting - Dog Groomer to the President - on their business cards.

I would suggest that our First Family make their purchase quickly and quietly. I am sure that with the President Barrack Obama's announcement that the First Family will be acquiring a Portuguese Water Dog(s). I am sure that these dog's prices will start to skyrocket. I am also sure that every celebrity in America will be purchasing these fine dogs. Even your average banker who has a few government bailout dollars left in his pocket will be buying these wonderful dogs for protection.
