In Support of Global Warming

Eva Gallant

The trees are stripping,

The temperature's dipping,

My nose will soon be dripping.

Electric blanket's on my bed;

Seeking a hat to warm my head,

I see even my bleeding hearts are dead.

It's nearly time for "Trick or Treat."

If we don't have many on our street,

The leftover candy I'm bound to eat.

Soon it will be Turkey Day,

The first snowfall will come our way,

And I'll be shoveling under skies of gray.

Why did summer have to end?

Couldn't nature start a brand new trend,

Let global warming be our friend?

Year round temperature would then be

At least as high as sixty-three,

And we could spend 12 months sweater-free.

The rhyme scheme is cute, though the insight towards nature is conflicting: Fun!
