In Those Eyes

April Higney
Such beauty in those eyes,
the dark reflecting the infinite sky in the night,
filled with the lights of twinkling stars,
like a lunar eclipse in profound sight.

A splash of hazel, that seemed to change color in each mood,
much like that seen of the Northern Lights, dancing over the horizon, earth blanketed in snow.
Such warmth that passes over in the chill of winter,
and when tears fall from these eyes it is much like that icy frost upon a cabin window.
Awaiting it to melt into warm embrace,
fall to the softness of a kiss,
and let the cold go.

Such beauty in those eyes,
shades of evergreen,
filling the mountains with trees going far off into a distant forest,
as though these eyes are looking deeper in, searching for the colorful birds perched upon branches,
as though searching, for something unforeseen.

A splash of blue falls, pooling into a river, flowing over rocks downstream,
it seemingly goes on forever, as the eyes stare in wait,
waiting for the soft breeze to flow back in the direction of the place to which they came,
and these eyes, take it all in, the sun shadowed behind clouds, the green grass with sheets of slate.

Such beauty in those eyes,
the dark reflecting the infinite sky in the night,
filled with the lights of twinkling stars,
looking in another direction, much more beyond this sight.
