The "delicious" import is scheduled to close out this year's Fall Film Series of the Fort Worth Gay & Lesbian International Film Festival along with another installment of Guerilla Gay Bar.
"Our Fall Film Series concludes with one of our favorite date comedies of the year, 'Mr. Right.' We also brought back show tunes as a special Gay Pride Week bonus and will announce some big plans regarding two very exciting upcoming Q Cinema projects," stated Todd Camp, artistic director of Q Cinema.
The plot involves "Louise," friend to a gaggle of gay men who just wants to make sure that her current boyfriend "Paul" is actually straight. She has a history of dating homosexual men so she brings him to a dinner party with her buddies, according to the press release. Other characters include "Alex," a cater-waiter whose acting career is always just about to take off. He's living with "Harry," a reality TV producer who's ashamed of "the crap" he foists on the public. "Tom" is a successful artist who brings his "rental" boyfriend "Larrs" to the party and "Larrs" is always on the prowl - or maybe not. Then there's "William" whose 11-year-old daughter is determined to drive her dad's boyfriends away.
"Williams' current beau Lawrence is a TV star who everyone sort of recognizes and who thinks that he's actually the doctor he plays on TV," states the release. "Director/co-writer Jacqui Morris and her co-writer brother David have crafted a fast-paced movie about a group of charming characters who each discover an inner truth as the film develops."
The series was brought to the community with the support of sponsors Rainbow Lounge, the North Texas GLBT Chamber of Commerce, Dallas Voice, Four Day Weekend Theater, the Fort Worth Arts Council, Ameriprise, and Wolfe Releasing.
The film is 95 minutes long and screens at 8 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Four Day Weekend, 312 Houston Street in downtown Fort Worth.
Tickets are $8 and are available at qcinema.org or at the venue beginning an hour before show time.
In related Q Cinema news, the Guerilla Gay Bar raids Fort Worth after hitting the roof literally at 7th Haven last month for a cool evening.
How it works is you go to this month's film at 8 p.m. Oct. 28 to be the first to find out which bar they're raiding next, watch for emails and Facebook posts and spread the word to your friends, then join the group Oct. 30, 9 p.m. at the designated bar.
For more information, check out GGBRFortWorth.org online.
If you would like to volunteer to help out at the monthly screenings or want to be involved in next year's festival, contact Stuart Himmelstein, volunteer coordinator at 817-846-5089 or at cptfusha@hotmail.com.
The mission of Q Cinema is to provide a voice for gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgendered people by presenting films, videos, and live programs that represent the diversity of the community and educate, enlighten, and entertain.
