Life wasn't supposed to be this way. She was supposed to live a long and happy life, but God had other plans. Cancer has taken control of her body. "We will beat this." The motto keeping everyone sane. It still hangs in the air, even though the steady beat has turned into silence. She had so much life to live. All the things she'll never experience: getting married, having children, and grandchildren, growing old. Her race is won, her reward has been claimed. The ones left behind don't know what to do. Empty space remains. The sadness brings heartbreak, tears in constant streams. So long to the girl who had only begun to live her dreams.
Life wasn't supposed to be this way. Surgery, instead of fixing the problem, took her life. Her heart couldn't take the pressure, only three parts. You wouldn't know it if you met her. Radiant smile, loud laughter, loved most. Only 9 years old, hardly time to live. Always giving all she could give. Her body is broken, but her soul soars high, somewhere with Jesus, up in the sky. The red tree remains, a tribute, a memorial of her too-short life.
Life wasn't supposed to be this way. He was playing, doing what he loved, until he lost control. No way to stop. Thrown into the sky, hitting pavement before saying goodbye. Family and friends in shock. Sometimes we aren't meant to understand. Leaving behind a wife and children, broken and in need of healing. Life will never be the same.
Sometimes, life throws curveballs, but in the midst of the sadness and suffering, God is the strength to get us through. Lord giveth and taketh away. We will all meet again someday.
Romans 8:28; 1 Peter 1:3-9
