On the same night, one man was shot by his wife and another was almost run over by his ex-girlfriend. The shooting occurred on Alberta street a little before 1 a.m. on October 14. When police arrived, the man's wife claimed that her husband had attempted suicide. After finding the man in bed with a gun shot wound to his neck, Ferndale Police were not buying the story and arrested the wife. She was charged with assault with intent to murder and possession of a firearm in commission of a felony. The man is expected to survive.

Later that same night, Ferndale Police responded to a call near Eight Mile. There, a man told police that his ex-girlfriend had tried to run him over in her car. Apparently, he was getting in our out of the car and was in between the door and the vehicle when the woman quickly took off. Eventually, the man was able to jump out of the car before the woman chased him attempting to run him over. The woman was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon.
